The purpose of SAP Finance is to help companies generate and manage financial statements for analysis and reporting and help with effective business planning and decision-making.

Naveed Abbasi

Naveed Abbasi is Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Director of the MBA SAP specializations. He earned a BS Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, a BS Accounting, Auditing and Taxation from the University of Karachi, and an MBA from Maharishi University of Management. Naveed brings more than 10 years of valuable experience in implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for multi-national corporations. Besides teaching SAP courses, he teaches financial modeling and data analysis using Excel.

To graduate with an MBA, students need to fulfill the degree requirement of 58 credits of study: 18 credits of the MBA Foundation Requirement and 40 credits consisting of specialization courses, elective courses, and the general requirements for a master’s degree.

      Students who have successfully completed all academic coursework by their normal program end date (30 months after entry into the Program) may take an MBA Elective Extension for up to one year. This extension requires that, after you complete your 30-month (53 credits) MBA for Professionals with Specialization in SAP ERP & Business Analytics, you can extend your studies by taking courses in the MBA for Professionals with Specialization in Accounting. For this extension, the major would be changed on your I-20.

      • A professional student will complete 4 credits of their new major in the last semester of their 30-month program (as an elective) and then complete 8 credits in the 1-year extension for a total of 12 credits in their new major.
      • The cost is $2,500 per semester or $5,000 per year. Students must pay tuition prior to the extension.
      • Students must maintain a 3.0 (B) average in their courses and must have a 3.0 GPA to enroll in the extension.
      • A student must also be enrolled in MGT 5910 Practicum for 3 credits each semester they are participating in paid practical training.
      • Students must set up a health insurance payment plan.

      MIU’s bachelor’s degree and MBA specialization in accounting enable any student to fulfill the requirement of the State of Iowa, which are 150 semester-hours of higher education including at least one course in each of the following topics: financial accounting, auditing, taxation, and management accounting.

      To our knowledge, there is no state in the USA that requires topics in preparation for CPA licensure that MIU does not offer. Any student or applicant who is unsure of whether MIU’s MBA in Accounting meets their state’s requirements for licensure may write to MIU’s program director Mr. Naveed Abbasi to receive current contact information for any applicable licensing boards.

Develop clarity of mind

All MIU students practice the Transcendental Meditation technique. Learn the Transcendental Meditation technique — the scientifically validated method to reduce personal stress and develop clarity of mind and broad awareness.

It is recommended to learn TM before the beginning of the classes. However, students have up to six weeks after the beginning to learn it in their local TM centers.

Weekly class schedule for online students

  • Tuesdays: 7:30-9:00 PM US CST
  • Thursdays: 7:30-9:00 PM US CST
  • Saturdays: 10:00-12:30 PM US CST

The class sessions are video-conferenced live via the Internet and are recorded for students whose time zone or work schedule does not permit synchronous participation.

Readings and homework account for another 7-10 hours of academic work per week.

On-campus full-time Class Schedule

  • Monday through Friday 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 3:15 PM US CST
  • Saturdays: 10:00-12:30 PM US CST

English language verification

International applicants must submit official English proficiency test scores within the past 2 years of at least 110 on Duolingo, 6.5 on IELTS Academic, 90 on TOEFL iBT or 58 on PTE.

Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique

All MIU students practice the Transcendental Meditation® technique. If you have not learned it yet:

  • Once accepted as a US student, the cost of TM instruction is covered through a grant offered by MIU
  • Students are required to learn the TM technique within the first 6 weeks after enrollment.

    Payments are lower at first and then increase, usually every two years, and are for an amount that will ensure your loans are paid off within 10 years (within 10 to 30 years for Consolidation Loans).
    Your monthly payments will be either 10 or 15 percent of discretionary income (depending on when you received your first loans), but never more than you would have paid under the 10-year Standard Repayment Plan.
    Payments are recalculated each year and are based on your updated income, family size, and the total amount of your Direct Loans. Any outstanding balance will be forgiven if you haven’t repaid your loan in full after 25 years.
